What I Want For My Birthday (If Covid-19 Didn’t Exist)

Hello everyone! Today, I’m listing out what I want for my birthday…if we didn’t have to worry about the pandemic!

2020 was supposed to be the year we (Matt and our friends the Bentons) go to Japan. I’ve always wanted to go to Japan, ever since I was a kid watching Toonami on Cartoon Network. As I got older, I realized that Japan itself was much more than the anime, music, and other entertainment that came from the country. The country’s history is rich, and their customs and day to day life are so different from ours. I want to get lost in all of the new experiences Japan has to offer!

I also wanted to go on lots of day trips. For my birthday, I had the idea to spend the weekend somewhere nice, maybe a luxury cabin in the woods, or going to Lake Erie to take in nature’s beauty. There’s something special about going outside and experiencing the outdoors…I don’t usually like it, but I’ve been in the mood to explore recently!

I love food. We all know this.

For my birthday, I wanted to get everyone I know together and have a huge dinner out somewhere nice and fancy, like a sushi place downtown or a steakhouse or something. I’ve not had the chance to wear a couple of dresses I bought a year or two ago, and what better time to have a crisis on which one to wear for a birthday dinner?

My friend Erin’s birthday is four days after mine. I love going to her place and hanging out, especially for our birthday week. She always organizes the best get togethers, and while we’re still going to get together (so thankful that she’s one of the people in my social bubble), it won’t be the same as usual because of the virus. Not being able to drunkenly hug anyone is a little lame, not gonna lie.

If the pandemic wasn’t a Thing, I’d even say I’d like to go to an arcade bar for my birthday! I love going to Old North Arcade and 16-Bit, and the both of them would definitely be on the Birthday List.

The one thing I’d love to do is have a family dinner. I haven’t seen my mom in so long! It’s probably been about half a year…And I haven’t seen my dad in quite a while as well. I would love nothing more than getting together with my family and having birthday dinner.

So that’s it! I didn’t really have much to write about today…so I wrote a little wish list! It sucks that I won’t be able to do what I want to do for my birthday this Saturday, but I’m still thankful for another year lived…so pros and cons, I guess!

Follow me on Twitter for my daily shenanigans, and if you live in the Columbus area, feel free to come to Skyline on my birthday and tip me 50%!

I write stories, as well as music, movie, product reviews and monthly wrap-up journals. Basically, if you can think it, I can write about it.
