What Happened In September?
Hey everyone! It’s the end of the month! This September went by really, really fast. To be honest, it didn’t even feel like a full month. That being said, lots of exciting things happened this month that imma tell ya about right now!
I’ve always had a problem driving. I’ve never had my license because out of all the things, driving gives me the most anxiety. The weirdest part about it is that I’ve never been in a wreck and I’ve never been hit or anything crazy, so the fear I have while behind the wheel is purely psychological.
That all being said, I have been trying to shake the rust off and polish up my driving skill throughout the summer and into September. Matt is a wonderful teacher and his patience really has helped me stay as calm as possible while on the road. There have been bumps in the road (pun intended) but all in all, I think I’m doing decently for someone who hasn’t regularly driven at all.
The goal is to have my license by November, because I can’t get on the plane to Seattle until I have my married name on my ID! Fingers crossed I can be comfortable enough on the road to pass the test! I absolutely hate driving, but I know it will only help me if I get my license. Besides, I’m sick of taking the bus in the winter, so to have my license before the holidays come will be nice.
I Love Me a New Crispy Work Shirt
At work this month, I officially got my new work shirts! My GM convinced the owners that I’m manager material in the administrative sense, so they were nice enough to get me the manager shirts. They even have my name embroidered on them!!
The only bad thing about that is when I wear my other non-embroidered shirts, I forget to wear my name tag. As the orientation leader, I can’t really tell new people to wear their name tags if I don’t have mine on! Luckily, there’s plenty of nametags to borrow.
I’m happy that my managers are able to see the potential in my goofy self to be more than just a server. I tend to stick around at the jobs I’ve had over the years, and Skyline is one job that I’m happy I decided to stay at. Maybe eventually I’ll be able to move up ever more! For now, I’m happy to help out where I can.
Ya Girl Hosted a Tournament
This month, I hosted a Super Smash Brothers Ultimate tournament! It was basically a party where we hung out and also played SSBU. It was fun to get everyone together and play some video games! My sister’s boyfriend Tyler won first place, and Matt won second place. I got absolutely destroyed by my sister in a Ike vs. Yoshi match. If you know me, you know I have a personal vendetta against Yoshi…
When I was a kid, Yoshi was the last character I had to win against in order to complete Mario Tennis on the Nintendo 64. It took me literal years to do it! I know I’m obnoxious when I say that ruined Yoshi for me, but he was so hard to beat!! Ya girl is not the biggest Yoshi fan because of this. That all being said, Allison is really good at Smash, so I figured she would beat me to a pulp. All of that kind of neutralized the loss. I’m a sore loser, but the party was too fun to be upset about losing over!
I want to try to have more Smash tournaments in the future because I loved hosting it this time around. Playing video games with a lot of people is always a good time, and so is the spirit of competition!
I Finally Saw A Movie
After a month of begging my husband, we finally went and saw “Hustlers”! I was so excited for this movie when it was announced, mostly because I love Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B. The story, once I looked into the movie, was also something that I thought could be interesting. It follows a group of dancers through the 2008 stock market crash and what they’re willing to do for their money.
I was surprised to hear the soundtrack because the actual movie had a score. I just thought it was going to be a bunch of stripper songs and hits from high school, but there was classical music up in the mix that I didn’t expect at all. It made the movie more believable to me because I could feel how risky they were being and how it affected them more than if there were no music, or just the same kind of rap songs in the background.
What I went for was JLo’s pole dancing and lots of boobies, but I ended up really liking the story more than I thought I would. I’m always down for a bunch of ladies breaking the law to better themselves, if we’re being honest. Plus, the rest of the main cast (Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, etc) really helped Constance Wu and Lopez carry the story all the way to the end. The whole time, I was caught up in their scheme! It was great! One of my favorite parts of the movie was between Palmer and Wu, and if you’ve seen the movie, you know what I’m talking about. It’s hilarious!
Go see the movie if you haven’t already. If you like drama and crime movies, it’s good for that. If you like boobs and butts, it’s good for that too. If you like both, you’ve struck gold.
Thoughts Related to Music This Month
This month, I’ve been trying to decide if I want to go back to my Top Albums series. I have tons of albums that I love and would love to share with everyone, but it’s a matter of getting my ducks in a row to make it happen. I was listening to one of my favorite albums the other day and decided that I would try to really dissect it.
Kate Bush’s “Hounds of Love” is one of my favorite albums of all time. I’m not going to go into detail about it now, mostly because I’m going to be working on a new post all about it! I’m hoping to get it out sometime next month, so stay tuned!
I also made this months Playlist with a quickness because, of course, I was thinking too much about Spooky Songs for next month’s playlist that I kind of forgot about September’s! Combine that with how fast this month felt to me and you’ve got yourself a hastily made playlist.
Just because I threw it together doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s good. I actually have been obsessed with several songs this month (including another video game song, this time a remix of a Resident Evil save room by Mono Memory), and I’ve also found a new artist to get into thanks to my Spotify Discover Weekly (highly recommend “Super Sunset” by Allie X), so I suggest if you want to hear some new music, hop on into my monthly playlist! Almost all of the songs are new to me this month (save for the classics), so it’ll be nice to see what you guys think of them too!
Well, that’s it for this month! September was a weird, fast, still too hot month. I’m hoping that October will give us some much deserved fall weather, and that it’ll go a little bit slower than this month did! I’ll see y’all next week! If you’d like, follow me on Twitter to stay up to date with my goofy life, and to know when the next post will be up if you’re forgetful like me…!
