What Happened in May?

I made this mac and cheese at the beginning of the month and I wanted to cry it was so good (recipe from Sam the Cooking Guy)

Hello everyone! It’s time for the monthly wrap up post! May went by VERY fast for me, so there isn’t a whole lot to write about. Makes it easy to write this post today! Even though not a lot happened, the things that did happen are quite large. Let’s get into it!

Ya Girl Is Serving

Restaurants reopened here in Ohio on the 21st. That means that I’m everyone’s favorite server again! For now, I’m one of three servers in the morning, and 3/5 days a week, I’m the only server. It’s strange to be back to serving because there are so many rules we have to follow in order to stay open. Lots and lots of cleaning and disinfecting! It’s a necessary evil unfortunately.

Serving with a mask on presents its own unique challenges. It’s nice that people can’t see me sweating underneath the mask, but it’s rough because it’s HOT. There are too many times were I had to go into the walk-in to cool off because my mask plus my job requirements forced my temperature up a lil too high. It’s been wild.

I get nervous with the people who are less than nice. I’ve seen way too many videos of people (“Karens”) being rude to the point of craziness to people just trying to do their jobs in this new normal. I’ve had dreams where a rude customer will cough in my face and Dream Mary just utterly curbstomps them. It’s almost disturbing because I usually don’t dream about me being violent. Luckily, I think if something like that were to happen and I had to throw some punches, I think my job would be safe (mostly because when I told my GM about my dream, she assured me I would be safe IRL).

It’s a weird time at work, but I’m happy to see the familiar faces of my regulars! Most of them are still sticking to drive thru and carry out, but a small handful came in to eat the first few days the dining room was open. It’s nice to see them again, even though the restaurant is totally different now.

Zoom Zoom Zoom

I don’t remember if I wrote about this and I’m too lazy to go look, but every Sunday my mom, my sister, and I have been video chatting on Zoom! Usually my mom comes to Columbus every month or so to see us for the weekend, but this pandemic has made that impossible. My sister had the idea of video chatting, and I think I can speak for all of us when I say that it’s been SO nice to talk every Sunday!

When I was a little kid at my mom’s for the weekend, I would always wake up to her talking to my Nana (her mother) on the phone and pancakes being made for my sister and I. I used to wonder why my mom and my Nana always talked to each other every week, but now that I’m an adult, it’s obvious to me…it’s hard to be so far away from your mom! I love both my parents obviously, but I talk to and physically see my dad a lot more than my mom. Making time to call her has done wonders for my mental health! I’m definitely a Daddy’s Girl, but talking to your mom about everything is a luxury I’ll never take for granted!

Booty Spray

Here is the box. I like the box.

I’ll keep this as PG and short as possible because I can speak at great lengths about this topic: a month ago, I bought a bidet from Tushy (not sponsored, of course). It got here about a week ago now.

My life has changed for the better.

Way less toilet paper usage! A refreshing spray of clean, glorious water to wake up the senses! And it was very easy to install; even though I had Matt’s help, I didn’t really need him for more than double checking the water lines.

My only issue with it is that since we don’t have the correct sink for it, we couldn’t get the bidet that has temperature control. So the water is COLD. That being said, it is life changing. A life changing product that is affordable, easy to hook up and use, and well worth the wait if they are still on back order. I’ll literally never get rid of it.

Music Obsessions

“I Love Hating You”’s album art is nice. Apparently FrankJavCee’s mom helped with the set up, if I’m remembering correctly.

Lots of great music came out this month! The Midnight released “Deep Blue”, the trance-y, retrowave single from their new album “Monsters” (out in July…SO excited). Ariana Grande has been busy throughout quarantine, dueting with both Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga on two solid tracks (“Stuck with U” and “Rain On Me”).

I’ve been obsessed with FrankJavCee’s “I Love Hating You” and Active Child’s “In Another Life”, so there are two tracks from those albums as well. I also discovered Crimson Apple, a band of sisters from Hawaii that are both very cute and very talented. “Can’t Get Out Of Bed” from their most recent EP, “Somebody”, is a very good example of how life is going for me during this pandemic.

Of course, since it’s May, I had to start the playlist with the monthly theme song (you’ll know when you get there). Go ahead and check out this month’s playlist! All this new (and new to me) music has really made the time spent in quarantine a little easier, so hopefully you can jam to the music and feel a little better than before!

And that’s it! Like I said, not a whole lot happened this month because it just went by so fast. We celebrated Damian’s birthday relatively mildly, I went to work and came home, and played with Freya until she refused to move. That’s the rest of the month in a nutshell!

I’m looking forward to the Family Birthday Week (I’m the only Richmond-Leeth born in August, the other three claim the first week of June!), even though I don’t think we’ll be able to do anything crazy. All the June festivities in Columbus have been cancelled. It’s a bummer, but for the first time ever, I think I’ll have time for myself in June. Usually, my June is the busiest month for me!! It will be strange to have so much free time.

Thanks for reading, as always! I hope you’ll be back next week for something new! Follow me on Twitter for daily goofiness, weekly blog updates, and monthly playlist postings. Next month, I want to have the monthly playlist done before the wrap up post, so if you feel like holding me accountable, Twitter is the best place to find me!

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and I’ll see you next week!
