What Happened in June?

Thinkin’ real hard about gettin’ some wine…

June is always the busiest month of the year for me and my fam, but this year, June was surprisingly chill! I did lots of cool stuff and didn’t feel like I was spreading myself too thin (which honestly, is a first). Lemme tell y’all what happened in June 2019:

Honeymoon Planning

One might wander: why are y’all planning your honeymoon AFTER the wedding? Why didn’t you go on it right after the wedding?

We couldn’t figure out where we wanted to go, first of all. We wanted to go to Japan, but it’s too expensive for us right now, so we decided against that. Then, Harry Potter World was an option, but once again, money was a factor. Surprisingly, a week trip to Seattle is a lot more affordable than a week trip to Orlando, so we decided to go to Seattle!

It Seattle.

Currently, we’re trying to figure out exactly what we want to do once we get there. Matt wants to go to the Space Needle, and I want to go watch them throw fish at Pike Place Market, but besides that, we kind of don’t know.

One of my regulars gave me her travel agent’s info, so we’re in the middle of working with her to find the perfect package for the two of us! Hopefully the three of us can work together to find some cool things to do in the wintertime in Seattle!

Birthdays Galore!

If you’ve been reading regularly, you’ll know that my parents and my sister’s birthdays were at the beginning of the month. I was lucky enough to spend time with my dad and my sister, and I got to call my mom and watch her adventures at the Mall of America via text (she was like a kid in a candy store)!

Allison on her birthday!

What you might not know is that my mother in law and sister in law’s birthdays were this month too! Their birthdays are two days apart, so I did my best not to forget to say happy birthday to them because after all, they’re my family too. Matt, however, totally forgot to say happy birthday to his sister. That was the topic of conversation the next day, and eventually we were able to buy her birthday dinner, so no damage was done for him. I just thought it was funny! My nephew’s birthdays are all coming up soon, so I’m sure I’ll have to remind Matt day-of to wish them a happy birthday!

Very low quality picture of the two birthday boys, Geo and Sammy, Matt and I, and Dean (Matt’s Stepdad)!

Death in the Family

Through all these happy birthdays, our family went through an unfortunate loss this June as well. Our family friend Jim lost his long fight with cancer a few weeks ago. I’ve known him since I was a kid, and I’ve known his wife Alexis since I was a baby.

I’m sad that I wasn’t able to see the both of them before he passed, since the last time I saw them both was more than a couple of years ago. I’d been following their story ever since he was diagnosed, however, and the ability to keep up with them throughout the process via Facebook and texts/calls was very comforting. They’re having a wake later in July but I’m not able to go because of work. It really sucks that I’m not able to go down there and hug Alexis but I know my dad and his husband will give her all my love and more!

Game Grumps LIVE

As most of you know, I am a huge fan of the YouTube Let’s Play group, Game Grumps. Arin and Danny are two of the funniest guys on the internet, and I love almost all the games they play on their channel. They’ve introduced me to so many different games and other Let’s Players on YouTube as well, and since I don’t like watching regular TV, that’s a pretty big deal for me.

Matt and I went to go see Game Grumps Live: the Final Party in Cleveland near the beginning of the month, and it was so much fun! They played Mario Party 10 and split the audience into two groups (Players 3 and 4, respectfully). We were on the winning team, of course!

The cutest little poster. Credit goes to Game Grumps and the artist who made the photo! If it’s you, please let me know so I can properly credit you!

I think the best part of the show was watching the people that got called up to play onstage. I wanted to be picked so bad! But I was so happy to see everyone they picked get to play with Arin and Danny, and so happy to see that they were excited to be onstage with them, that I didn’t really get jealous at all! They had a Q&A afterwards too, which was pretty neat. Lots of cute little kids asked cute questions.

We got cool souvenirs and we got to be a part of the last show of their current touring format, so it was all around a cool time!

Music Obsessions of June

Oh yes.

June has been a good month for music (which I’m sure I’ll say every month tbh). Between Planet Booty’s new EP, Sam Smith and Normani’s new song, and other not as new songs that I’m still jamming to regardless, this month’s been full of songs I like to both zone out to and dance to! Quickie Comfest

Comfest is the Columbus Community Festival, held every year to bring the city together with music, art, and lots of booze and weed. I have been going to Comfest since I was in the womb (my mom was pregnant with me for Comfest ‘93), and I think I’ve missed mayyyyybe one or two since. This year, it was Molten Lava Hot (and I had Golubich stuff to do on Saturday), so I only went two out of three days. That being said, I had lots of fun this year at Comfest!

Honey Vanilla Cream (aka normal ice cream) and Texas Sheet Cake (aka dairy-free ice cream). You know I had to get some regular ice cream too!

Friday I went with my friend Cheyenne after work and watched my dad’s alter ego Stella in a burlesque show, which was both funny and awesome! I had never been to a burlesque show so it was a new and fun experience. We went to Jeni’s afterwards, so that was also very cool. Jeni’s has new dairy free ice cream, so I was all about that life as a newly lactose intolerant human being.

Sunday I went with Matt, my sister Allison, and my friend Damian. We walked around and saw people we knew, listened to music, ate bourbon chicken (the highlight of Comfest if we’re being honest), and sizzled like bacon in the sun. It was awesome. I was glad to return home, however! The 90+ degree temperature was pretty rough.

Me, Dam, and Matt. Love deez boys. This was before Allison got there, unfortunately!

All in all, June was a month full of adventure and fun! I’m sure July will be just as fun, if not more. Either way, ya’ll will hear about it!
