September 2022
Hello everyone! September FLEW by this year. I think having a 2 month old had something to do with that, but I’m still shocked that it went by that quickly! To be honest, it’s been a blur. I’ll do my best to remember what happened!!
Olivia Update
This month, I got a lot of help with Olivia! From formula to toys to clothes, she has not been without since coming home from the hospital last month. This month, I bought her clothes for Spooky Season (on sale for $5!! What a steal!), and she was loved on by everyone she met. Going to the dentist was fun because they didn’t remember that I was pregnant (some of the receptionists straight up didn’t know). Bringing her in to see everyone was great!
It’s been wild to watch Olivia learn. I feel like she already knows so much! She looks at anything and everything, smiles at people she likes, does a little Baby Dance (which is really just her kicking and moving her arms around excitedly), and eats SO much. I’ve also noticed that she gets bored and frustrated sometimes, too. Usually if I sit down with her too long, she starts to fuss. That means it’s time to get up and go look at stuff for a while! She’s also trying to roll over, which is ridiculous. She’s a little young for it, but if she wants to be an overachiever, I won’t stop her!
Mom Stuff
I’m still juggling work and motherhood, while also trying to take care of myself. It’s hard! Having Matt in my corner helps a lot. I know we both feel the strain sometimes but I think we’re doing a good job keeping Olivia happy and healthy. I still get to play video games and watch what I want on YouTube, I just have to time it to when she’s sleeping. It kind of feels like I’m on a timer with an unknown end, but it’s not all bad. It has made me faster at getting things done!
It’s also been great knowing I can trust people to watch her while I’m working or doing something important, like taking a shower. My dads and my roommates have been instrumental at keeping me sane by watching Olivia. Knowing that people I trust are taking care of my baby is a huge comfort. I know a few other people that I can call if I need them as well, like Matt’s family for example. Having to not pay for daycare when she’s so young is such a relief. We would be hard pressed to find something reliable for any less than a standard rent payment!
Music Obsessions
Lots of good music this month! The Midnight came out with “Heroes” (which you probably know if you’ve been keeping up with the blog recently!). I know I say it every time they come out with something new, but they really killed it this time. Crywolf, John Legend, Bjork, Kill Bill: The Rapper, Lil Nas X, and Matt Watson all came out with new singles as well. That’s a lot of my favorites! I know SOHN came out with a new album as well, but I haven’t had the chance to listen quite yet. He’s one of those artist I like to submerge myself to when I listen to them.
Of course, I added some oldies but goodies as well! If you’re interested in taking a listen, click here!
Umm…What Else…
Well…that’s kind of it. Like I said, I can’t really remember anything I’ve done besides take care of Olivia and go to work. Time has been an illusion (like it is all the time tbh). These times of nothing else will subside as Olivia gets older, I bet. Eventually I’ll be able to go do fun things outside of the house again. I’ll be able to do new fun things with Olivia as well!
Right now, Matt and I are in the weird stage of parenthood where it becomes more of a hassle to go anywhere or do anything with people without worrying about the baby. We’re both homebodies anyway, so it kind of works out, but sometimes I miss being able to go see a movie or take time to see friends. Even going out to certain restaurants is off limits for now, since I’d be hyperaware of Olivia being uncomfortable.
I figure the time will come where we find it easier to do things outside of the house both as a family and independent from Olivia. Right now I’m glad to be at home with her and Matt. If anything, she gives me a good excuse to say no to plans!
Thanks for reading, as always! This monthly wrapup was kind of short. Not much happened! I’m hoping October will be a good time, seeing as it’s Spooky Season. I know for a fact that I’m going to at least one party this coming month, so that will definitely be something to talk about (as it will be the first party since the Baby Shower!). We’ll see what happens.
In the meantime, feel free to follow me on Twitter! Now that I’m up at all odd times of the day and night, who knows what I’ll retweet! You can always find the latest blog post on there, however. That’s a constant. You can also subscribe to me down below if you’d like a more direct email.
I’ll see you here next week with something new!
