Oh hell yeah, turn up Liv!

Hello everyone! It’s the last Monday of the month, which means it’s time for a Monthly Update! The month actually felt like a month this time around. Usually I feel like it goes by really fast! Let’s see, what’s been going on these past few weeks…

A Series of Unfortunate Events, but Not the Book or Movie

This month has been riddled with issues. At work, with the car, and with Olivia! Luckily they’re all minor, but they really all build up!

Work has been chaotic; between late coworkers and busy days, it’s been quite a month. I’m happy I love my job, otherwise it would have been unbearable! I won’t go too into detail but I’ll just say everything that was an issue could’ve been easily avoidable or fixed with a more competent crew.

The car has been annoying as well. The tires would go semi-flat every few days and I’d have to fill them up…eventually I ran over a piece of glass and had to buy a new tire! It was a bad time to have to buy a tire (right before payday), so it was quite the stressful week.

Finally, Olivia has been teething so she’s been very fussy and inconsolable at times. She has also started to hate the car again, which makes for very tense car rides. I love her so much, but I’ll be thankful once she likes the car again! It’s so hard to drive with her crying in the back.

Birthday Boy/Olivia Update

Meemaw, Liv, and Matt on Matt’s birthday! Not the most flattering picture, but it’s okay, they’re having fun.

March is Matt’s birthday month! For his birthday, we saw lots of family and friends. On this past Friday (his actual birthday), we went to his mom’s house for Birthday Dinner. She made delicious quiche, Matt’s favorite food. Olivia loved seeing her Meemaw and Papa Dean!

On Saturday, Matt and I went to see John Wick 4 with Matt’s dad and his girlfriend Kerry. Kerry’s daughter and boyfriend (professional babysitter and NICU nursing student respectfully) baby sat Olivia for us so we could go see this movie. Matt and I were really looking forward to seeing it, so I’m glad we were able to! Olivia cried basically the whole time we were gone, which leads me to believe that we are in the era of Shy Liv. She’s pretty friendly, but when she meets people she doesn’t know (or does know and hasn’t seen for a while), she gets shy! She’s been doing it more and more recently. I’m thinking it’s just a natural phase for babies and kids, so I’m happy to ride it out with her.

Lil Liv at the Rusty Bucket!

Sunday, my mom came to visit us, complete with a strawberry-filled cake for Matt for his birthday. She came up a little early, so me, my mom, my sister, and Liv went to the Rusty Bucket for lunch. It was nice hanging out with them! It was also entertaining to watch Olivia try and eat the Mac and cheese and broccoli we bought for her. Needless to say, she only ate a few bites before denying it all together. I’m not too surprised, seeing as she hasn’t had a whole lot of solid foods, but I try to incorporate solids at least once a day so she can get used to both feeding herself and get used to different tastes and textures. I’m not sure if I’m introducing things the “right way”, but I know the foods she absolutely cannot have, so I use my best judgement on what she’s eating. She definitely didn’t have a slice of strawberry cake! But she did have a nice little teething cookie, so it wasn’t so bad when we were eating cake!

Matt had a good birthday, I think. I didn’t get to buy him anything but a card thanks to having to buy a new tire, but we got to spend time with the people we love and time with each other as well, so that was really nice for us! I’m hoping we can make a trip to Micro Center so I can buy him whatever he needs for his computer as a belated gift. We’ll see what happens!

Music Obsessions

To be fair, I haven’t listened to a lot of new music lately. I know Fall Out Boy came out with their new album, but I haven’t had the chance to listen to it. I also know Demi Lovato released a new version of their song “Heart Attack”, but I haven’t had the chance to listen to that either.

What I have been listening to instead is my likes on shuffle, as well as the Throwback Thursday playlist on Spotify. So, all of the songs are ones that I liked a lot one particular day this month and spontaneously added to the playlist as the month went on. The only song I chose to go in the playlist on purpose was “No More Sorrow” by Linkin Park, as the anniversary of Chester Bennington’s death was this month.

I found a nest in a bush :3

I’m looking forward to April. Matt and I just started a new Dungeons and Dragons campaign tonight with our friends (hence the late upload…I did not plan ahead), and it’s already started out completely different than what we (the co-DMs) expected it to turn out to start, so I’m excited to get into the main quest of the story.

April is also when Olivia turns 9 months old, her first Easter, and lots of other cool and fun things happen! I’m hoping that I’ll have good things to talk about next Monthly Update!

If you liked what you read and want to keep up with the blog as a whole, consider subscribing here on Medium as well as following me on Twitter. I always try get a post up on Mondays (last Monday I didn’t, but that was just not gonna happen with all the car and Fussy Baby stuff I was dealing with that day). I plan on scheduling one Monday off each month, so if you follow me on Twitter you’ll see which Monday of the month I decide to take a day off from planning and posting!

Thank you for reading! I’ll see you next time with something new!
