Great family photo (taken by Ashley M!)

Hello everyone! Seeing as February is such a short month, it’s not too surprising that it’s over so fast. Still, time has gotten away from me as usual! By the time it was time to catch up with everything, I was just too tired. Between being a mom, working, and trying to keep the house afloat, at the end of the day the last thing I wanted to do was stare at a computer screen. So, I missed a blog post or two this month! I figure that’ll be more common than not, despite me wanting to post every Monday.

Anyway, let’s get into February!

Bridesmaid Dress Hunt

This month, I made it a goal to get my bridesmaid dress for my best friend Erin’s wedding. I didn’t want to wait too long because I might not find the dress I like in the color I needed (Paprika!). Luckily, everything went nice and smooth thanks to online shopping. No, I didn’t buy my dress online, but I found one that I loved that I knew I could find a close match to at David’s Bridal.

I knew that I wanted a dress that wouldn’t outshine Erin, since obviously she’s the bride. That being said, I didn’t want a dress I would be uncomfortable in. I went with a simple shape, with the added “flair” of off the shoulder sleeves. It was the third dress I tried on and I loved it! It was almost exactly the same as the dress I found on a different website, just without added decoration on the bust. Ya girl was happy. And it was under $100, which makes my wallet happy, too.

From David’s Bridal’s website (davidsbridal.com)

I’m not sponsored by David’s Bridal (I actually didn’t like them when I went to try on wedding dresses way back when), but I knew it would be a quick and easy purchase because I knew exactly what I wanted and what I needed to fit the wedding. I ended up enjoying my time there as a bridesmaid, so if you’re in the market for a bridesmaid dress, I’d suggest going to David’s Bridal if you know exactly what you want/need going in.

Millions of Mobile Games

I blame Matt for getting me into games I can play anywhere. He plays so many video games, it’s hard to keep track! A few months ago, he was into a game called Survivor.io, where you control a little dude fighting monsters in an apocalyptic world. He played it for like a couple of weeks and in those weeks, he introduced me to it. I’ve been playing it religiously for 91 days straight. It’s a very easy game (run around and don’t get hit while you fire projectiles automatically), and really good for playing in bed, in the car while I’m waiting to go into work, or when Olivia is taking a nap.

I got into a game called Rent Please!, which is a landlord sim where you make improvements on various cities thanks to the rent of your tenants. It’s a very cute game, and I’m currently trying to get the next town unlocked so my tenants can have pets!

Finally, I wanted to play Candy Crush one day, but decided to not download it again; instead, I downloaded both Fishdom and Royal Match, two match-three games that were being advertised to me heavily on the other two games. I figured, why not play them? They’re semi-mindless (although some of the puzzles are hard!) and I can put them down pretty easily to tend to whatever it is I need to be doing.

There’s nothing wrong with playing mobile games, but man I’ve been playing a lot. I’ve been trying to put them down more so that I can, like, be productive, but then I stay up late playing them! It’s good to find a happy medium…I just have to find mine! I’m sure I’ll find something else to hyperfocus on eventually…

Olivia Update!

Little Liv is 7 months this February! It’s insane watching her learn to crawl, eat on her own, and laugh at everything Matt and I do. The other day, she laughed and laughed while I tried to put her to sleep. We just ended up laughing at each other for 10 minutes before I was able to get her (and me) to calm down enough to fall asleep.

Olivia learned that I’m Momma this month as well. I was laying her down one night when she was drowsy, and when I hesitated in front of the door (where she can’t see me), she called out “Mama?” It was the cutest thing in the world, and I almost cried before going over to cuddle her to sleep.

Hearing her call me Mama is most definitely one of the highlights of my life. If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while (or know me in real life), you know that I have always wanted to be a mom. Her knowing that I’m her mom is the greatest feeling, and knowing that she knows to call for me if she needs me is an even greater feeling.

Now, of course, if she’s slightly inconvenienced at all she’ll call for me whether I’m there or not…but it’s still nice to be loved unconditionally!

Music Obsessions

Album cover from Spotify

Freddie Dredd released a deluxe version of “Freddie’s Inferno”, so I’ve been listening to that basically nonstop. The Midnight also released a song that’s featured in a video game called “Road 96: Mile 0” so I’ve been listening to that too. And my coworkers introduced me to Lotto so I’ve been listening to her a lot as well!

The rest of the songs on the playlist are songs I’ve been jamming to in the car, as well as two songs I’ve been singing to Olivia recently (try to guess which ones!). If you’d like to listen, click here!

February was a month! I feel very neutral about it. Probably because I am looking forward to spring!! Hopefully March will be full of fun. Between Matt’s birthday, St. Patrick’s Day (aka green spaghetti day at work), and various outings we’ve been planning with family and friends, I think it will be a great month!

Thank you for reading this month’s monthly update! If you liked it, feel free to subscribe to me here on Medium and go follow me on Twitter for updates as well as goofy daily things. Hopefully I will see you here next week with something new! That is, if Olivia allows me the time to write something for you!
