Lots of blankets (and some random papers?) in the Plant Room.

Hello everyone! Before I get started, I want to say thanks for letting me take a break last week. I got to spend quality time with my parents, and I’m refreshed and ready to write some more posts for October! I fully plan on releasing two posts one week to make up for the missing post last week. Keep an eye out for them!

Today, I have exciting news about the Plant Room: There’s plants in there! Yay! I’ve been hard at work blueprinting, repotting some plants, and planning to move the bulk of my plants into the Plant Room. It’s been a slow process because I’ve been busy almost every day of the week…but I’m feeling good about the progress so far.

Left: the Art Desk! Right: a bunch of random stuff that needs to be organized!

I have two tables in the front room that are covered in plants. I plan on moving at least one of them into the Plant Room, moving most of the plants in there with it. A lot of the plants in the front room are succulents, since the front room is the room with the most light. A part of me wants to see if they can thrive in the Plant Room, but I’m notorious for killing succulents so those might stay in the sunny front room.

I moved my art desk into the Plant Room as well. It’s been a great idea so far, as I’ve been painting in there every day! It helps that I’ve given myself an art challenge for October (which you can follow on my Instagram), but I feel like even without that excuse I’d still be in the Plant Room, painting away. I might have to rename it the Art Room!

The Front Room: the most disheveled room in the house! Look at all these plants that need to move!

Matt walked into the room the other day and said “This feels pretty cozy!” It made me feel like I was really getting close to what I want the room to be: a calm, chill, cozy room that I (and anyone who visits) can escape to. There’s loads more I want to do to the room to get all the way there.

I have artwork that I want to frame, a tapestry I want to hang up somewhere, and I want to buy more twinkle lights as well as an area rug to fill up the empty floor space. I bought an empty terrarium from Target that I want to build. I need more light bulbs for the room (Damian never had a bulb in his main light, he always used lamps because, like me, he liked his room dim), so I plan on buying grow lights and sticking them in the main light sources in the room. My only worry with that is that they won’t be compatible with the main light socket, so I’ll have to make sure I can actually do that before I go ahead and buy some bulbs. There’s so much more on my Plant Room list; this is just a taste of what I want to accomplish!

A closer look at the amoeba of lights with my mini paintings. As you can see, there’s room for more!

Right now, it’s a little disheveled, but the Plant Room really is starting to come together. I’m excited to share more when I get more stuff done! If you want to keep up with my progress, check back every second Monday of the month! Writing about it on the blog helps me keep myself on the track to finishing the Plant Room, so I hope you enjoy reading about my progress.

If you want to keep up with my blog, feel free to subscribe on Medium! Every Monday, you’ll receive an email when I upload. I also tweet out the post, so feel free to follow me on Twitter as well! You can keep up with my daily goofiness on there if you’re interested in that.

Finally, if you enjoyed reading my post today, feel free to leave a tip on ko-fi! I hope to self-publish the novel I’m writing at the moment (which, I learned the other day, needs a LOT of work in this second draft), so that’s what your tip will go towards!

Thanks as always for reading. I’ll see you next Monday for something new!
